Why is it Tuesday?

Okay this week kinda got away from me. My brain has been focused on doing all that is needed of me for dog walks/house sitting. These bits have been the bulk of my days, and also the fun bits. And once that part of my day was over, I was working on trying to build up inventory again. Try concentrating on patterns and stitches when your tired from walking pups most of the day. Not to mention everyday junk that crops up.

For example I spent the better part of 4 hours helping my mom make up a photo book for a friends birthday present Sunday night. Would have been less if Walmart's site would have loaded photos faster, but it didn't. It came out nice though and will be shipped to us in about a week. Mom has vowed not to do these types of projects anymore because as thoughtful as they are, they can be a big pain to actually execute. I agree, but I know this probably won't be the last "simple" project she will come up with.

It is five days and counting till P.I.R. I wish I was more ready. I have a sizable inventory but a little lack of popular items. I guess people really liked the turtles. I want to crank out more before Sunday, so thats what I'll be working on once I finish posting this super late post. Again sorry about the lateness.

Like last week, I worked on some more turtles last night. I started hippos as well but haven't finished them. I was working on two in tandem. After a few more turtles I'll see about getting back to those.

Say hello to Francis the Great Dane. He had the honor of being the first pup in the new car.
I folded the back seats down so he could have plenty of room. He's a good, if not energetic pup. And good in the car, even if he never sat or laid down. I got to transport him twice this week.

Back to the salt minds and I won't be posting till Monday most likely. Sunday will be crazy and draining. I will see if I have the energy then to write but I wouldn't count on it. It's supposed to be back in the 90's the rest of the week. So Sunday will be HOTT!

Turtles and Momma's birthday!!

This week was a little relaxing. I got the painting in the kitchen done. Pretty much just touch up left now. Was nice to get that done, even if I had to kneel on the quarts countertops (I used a pillow for cushion). Got errands done with my dad. Good to get those things checked off our to do list. Also got to hang out and have dinner with Courtney and her boyfriend Rob last night. It was really good to catch up with her.

Mostly it was a rest up and gear up for this week since Diane is going out of town. I'll have more stuff on my plate with more walks then normal for me, which won't be so bad. I'll be nice and busy. Plus I have the last house sitting gig of the month coming this weekend. Next month is pretty much booked on the house sitting front. But I'm spending time with awesome pets.

I did up some new Tiny Turtles in the evening to wind down. Since I finished reading 'Orange is the new Black', I started to watch the show as I crocheted this week. Kinda loving the show even if it veered from the book on many levels in many different ways. . . .  I need to make more Turtles, but I also need to make other things too. So for now this pattern is going to the back of the queue.
I had a lot of fun with the color combos this time. I was a little sad that one came out a little small but thats because of the weight of the yarn. But it still made a cute little tiny shell. Get these little guys tagged and they'll be ready for P.I.R.

Since I only have two weeks till then I'm not sure what I want to stock up on in inventory right yet. But I'm leaning towards Hippos this week. We'll see what happens because VooDoos might just win the battle because they are quicker to make and assemble. Plus they are a hot seller.

Its a short one this week. Too hot around Portland to try to do much else. We are working through another heat wave around here. And today was a scorching 97 degree high. Ick! Hoping tomorrow cools off a bit, along with the rest of the week.

Speaking of tomorrow, its my momma's birthday! And I can finally give her the awesome pooch I've been making. She's a western fan, mostly the Duke himself, John Wayne. Hence the cowboy theme. I really hope she likes him. (I'm so glad he came out so darn well.) I also picked her up a cool sugar skull cowboy trivet when I was in Arizona that I've been sitting on for what feels like forever. Another thing I really hope she likes. She has about a dozen different trivets that she wants to hang in the kitchen, which is why I thought to get her this one. And then I'll be making spaghetti and meat balls for dinner. I really hope she has a good day and people at work don't bug her too much. I know she'll be happy to see her friend Pam after work at least.

Another dog, another day

Lily was happy to play with her frog.
I love my Fairy Dogmother job. I love the pups and kitties I get to hang out with and walk with. I'm at my last job for a bit, house sitting wise anyway. I have almost two weeks of getting to sleep in my own bed at home. Y'all have no idea how nice that will be for me. Since I got home in June I've only spent about two weeks in my own bed. Most of that being a big block of June. It's a crazy life being a dog sitter but, I kinda love it.
This weekend I had the pleasure of hanging out with the lovely Lily. She is on the up swing of some doggy vertigo (best way to describe it) and full of spunk. A wonderful pup and so lovey.

I mostly worked on my gift that has to be ready for next week. So here's a little peak. I finally started really putting him together. And really he is almost done and put together, I just have his holster to finish up. There will be pictures of him all together and polished next week. I get to give him away next Monday. I can not wait to see their face when I give him. I'm all excited about it.

I had a hell of a time with the half bones for the holster. the original pattern was for a dog toy so it was fairly big. And after changing the hook size, the stitch used, and the eventually the amount of stitches I got a pretty good product. Other then putting this little fella together, the bone pattern was about all I worked on this week. I think the time was well worth it though. I'm just glad I didn't need them any smaller or I might have switched patterns again.
Unfortunately since I never executed the entire pattern in its original format, I don't feel comfortable rating it. I will say that it is fairly easy pattern to understand and work form the bits that I did. But it is a piece together job on the first end. I kinda like how it was working up, though it was my seriously modified version.

The unfinished bone holster. I like the idea of gun like bones.
In addition to working on this, I was also working on a project that my mom asked for help on. She has a friends birthday coming up and had a special project in mind. So I was asked to help and volunteered more of my help with a few things as well. So I went on working on a concert/band page she had in mind. It was fun and I still have some work to do on that still as well.

I'm hoping this first week home can be a calm one for the most part and I can focus on some things I need to do around the house and just get a chance to relax a little. Next week will be dog crazy since I'll be taking on a lot more while Diane (ruler of Fairy Dogmother and one of the best moms. Can't help but say that since I grew up with her daughters.) is out of town. So we'll see where the wind blows me on all the "free" time I get. I do apologize for getting this post out so late. After getting things picked up and packed up at Lily's and getting a chance to relax a bit at home yesterday, I just lost all time. Today felt a bit of the same, which is why I'm writing this and then going to bed.
I have recently realized that I have somewhat lost track of my project a week(ish) goal that I started with at the beginning of the year. My aim is to get back to it after my next event on August 2nd. I know realistically that no new projects can be started until then for inventories sake. The happiness of this is I have at least four new projects to get done up by Christmas. YAY!! So soon there will be newness to the blog and maybe I won't yammer on quite so much.  I have some fun stuff lined up too, or at least I think so (now anyway).
Next week is inventory filled and finishing up projects on a priority basis. That little pooch up there has a Priority #1 all over him. Should be like ten minutes tops once I get the chance.
Thanks for listening to the ramblings of mine. Come back next week, hopefully it will come on time!

USA! USA! USA!

Sitting here watching the Women's World Cup final USA vs Japan. Its been an exciting game so far. The current Score is USA 5- Japan 2. An amazing first half, in the first 17 minutes USA scored 4 goals. Can't wait to see how this ends. It is a definite redemption game from the last World Cup final in 2011 where we also face Japan and lost in PKs (penalty kicks).

Hope everyone had a nice 4th of July. I was spending time with these adogable french bulldogs. They did pretty good with all the fireworks. Got a little jumpy at bed time with the loud booms though. Not fun to be jolted away by something that is practically a bomb. I also got to spend some time with my besty/brother Zack. We had BBQ at his dads and just hung out. Something we haven't gotten to do in a while. I've been way busy with just about everything. So it was really nice to get a chance to just chill out, even with the other things I had to get done as well last night.

I've got a few more house sitting gigs left this week before I get a break at home. I'm at a new house now in fact for the next few nights. But it was nice to spend the week with the frenchies. They are a great trio of pups.
rope, rope, rope, whose got the rope
Sunbathing even in our heat.
The boys cuddling
I had some time to crochet this week. YAY! I was working on getting the granny square blanket right. Here we have two different tries at it. It hasn't laid flat like I'd like it to yet, so I might have another rip out to do. We'll see. I do like this color combo, and not just because I'm a Oregon Duck fan. Butter Yellow and Spring Green really look nice together. I'll have to tie the colors into the elephant some how, I think that would look super cute.
This square was coming out more circular then anything. So I wanted to try something a little different with it.
This one wasn't laying as flat as I'd like.
I think I might put this down for a bit and work on finishing what I was working on last week (needs to be finished by like the 20th) or inventory that I need to get moving on. Inventory will probably take priority in the next few weeks just because I need to get it built up by the 2nd of August.

I will leave you now with about two minutes left in this game. USA, USA, USA!!!!!
